First Generation(1940-1956)

a)First Generation Computer Uses Vacuum Tube for circuitry and Magnetic  Drums for storage medium(Memory).

b)In this generation computer is very large,expensive and take more time for execution.

c)Computer Uses Machine language (binary language) ,lowest level programming language understand by computer.

d)The UNIVAC and ENIAC computers are example of first-generation computing devices.


Second Generation(1956-1963)

a)Second Generation Computer Uses Transistor.The Transistor was invented at Bell Labs in 1947.

b)In this Generation Computers became very efficient , faster and smaller than First Generation computers.

c)Programmer uses assembly language for programming purposes and assembler for convert assembly language to machine language.

d)High-Level Programming language also has been developed like FORTRON and COBOL

Third Generation(1964-1971) 

a)Computers Uses Integrated Circuit(IC). IC  was built using silicon chip called semiconductor.

b)Compter is very faster,efficient and smaller than second generation Computer.

Fourth Generation(1971-Present)

a)Computer uses microprocessors thousands of Integrated Circuit built on to a single silicon chip.

b)Computers are very cheap,efficient,fast and small.

Fifth Generation( Present and Beyond)

a)Fifth Generations computers uses Artificial Intelligence which are very smart in working.

b)Voice Recognition,Face Recognition and parallel processing are used.

c)Quantum Computing and nanotechnology will be used.
